Thank you so much for everything, I had so many compliments on the food and the service you provided. All our guests were very happy with the attention to detail and the excellent service. I can’t thank you enough for all your help.
This past weekend our son Nick got married in Charleston and we celebrated with a reception at the Francis Marion Hotel on August 8. Our preliminary meeting with Gillian Crum on April 24th went well, and we were very impressed with her friendliness and overall helpfulness. We live in Wisconsin, and our son and his bride live in Charlotte, therefore much of the planning was accomplished via email and phone calls. We found Gillian to be very personable and eager to please us. She was there to meet us when we arrived on Friday, August 7, and worked with us throughout the weekend, assuring that both the hotel’s and our personal decorations were set up to our satisfaction. The evening of the event she was available to make sure everything went smoothly.
Both our room accommodations and the venue site of the Gold Ballroom were lovely. The women at the front desk and and the bellhops were all extremely polite and friendly. Our experience with the Francis Marion couldn’t have been better, and we would like to personally thank Gillian and the entire staff for a job well done.
Will and I just wanted to reach out to you to tell you how incredibly perfect last Saturday was. When he and I snuck in to the ballroom during cocktail hour, I was in tears with how perfect everything was- you guys really made my vision for the ballroom come alive in a way that even I couldn’t have planned (and in the best way possible). We are so glad we trusted you to make this day come together for us and we are going to remember it for the rest of our lives! From the beginning when we booked the ballroom to sweeping up the confetti on the wedding night, you and your team rocked it out, and we haven’t the slightest clue if anything actually went hay wire. Everyone was incredible and friendly, everything was ready to go, and our honeymoon suite was just perfect. Our friends and family had a blast and they so impressed with everything and loved being able to enjoy the night worry free since everything was in your very capable hands. We can’t thank you enough for being there for us so we could have the time of our lives! We wish we could do this again every year! There aren’t enough ways for us to tell you thank you and to let you know how insanely grateful we are for everything you did for us. I’m going to tell everyone I know to book at the Francis Marion so we can relive the perfection all over again!
We want to thank you again for working so hard to make our daughter’s wedding weekend so perfect. Everything went according to plan and was completely effortless for me and so enjoyable. You attended to every detail, leaving us no worries. It was a magical weekend for everyone. You were a joy and pleasure to work with. Thank you so much for everything!
Our overall experience was outstanding. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate our daughter and her new husband’s wedding. Gillian Crum was incredible to work with. She was extremely helpful and accommodating. Most of our dealings were long distance as we live in New Jersey, Gillian made these encounters meaningful and productive. We are grateful to have had her assistance. From our first in person meeting to our farewell at the reception she was wonderful. Each and every hotel staff member was very accommodating, pleasant and made us and our guests feel special as we celebrated this once in a lifetime event. We look forward to visiting Charleston in the future and wouldn’t think of staying any where other than the Francis Marion. Thank you to all who made this event so very memorable for all the right reasons!

There are not words enough to describe the AMAZING job that she did!!!! We loved our experience at your hotel and she was the one of the main reasons why the wedding was perfect. Jason and I are still in awe of how flawlessly everything happened on our big day, and it would not have occurred that way without you! You made it so completely easy for us, and it was 110% stress-free. (You were always a step or two ahead of us which was amazing.) Our guests have commented on how the timing of the reception and events were perfect. Again, it was such a pleasure to work with you!
The Francis Marion Hotel basically sells itself as a reception venue, after visiting multiple locations I immediately thought the Francis Marion was “it” as soon as we stepped inside the Colonial Ballroom. Included with the venue rental were the services of a day-of coordinator, Gillian Crum. Gillian was awesome, my wife constantly came up with a million question e-mails that were always answered promptly. Gillian and the hotel were incredibly flexible, anything we could think of to ask was never a problem. Also included was a complimentary night in a suite the night of the wedding! The catering was perfect, we did stations and there were two hours of unlimited station refills. No one left hungry, and that’s what we wanted. I’m still getting compliments on how good the food tasted. My wife constantly reassures me the wedding and reception were perfect, and we wouldn’t change a thing if we could.

The event staff and catering department at the Francis Marion was amazing! They were beyond helpful in assisting us in planning our wedding reception, recommending vendors, and on the actual day made everything perfect! We couldn’t have done this without Caroline and Gillian and the rest of the employees at the hotel! Cannot say enough nice things about the Francis Marion so we’ll keep it simple – use this venue to make everything Prefect!

Our wedding reception was perfect. Caroline went above and beyond to make sure that everything went as planned an on schedule. The service was impeccable. Our guests have given nothing but praises about the Francis Marion. Once we booked this venue for our reception we knew there was nothing to worry about, and we could not have been more right. The accommodations were excellent and the Colonial Ballroom where the reception was held was magnificent. The food was fabulous and the staff always went out of their way to be helpful. Caroline Bean stands out amongst the rest of the excellent staff. She was a pleasure to work with and was always willing and able to help us with our countless questions and last minute changes. She is a tremendous asset to your hotel.

I’ve never felt so at home in a hotel! The entire staff was so accommodating and truly treated each of us as special guests. Thank you for being in charge of all of our plans. The Carolina Ballroom was the perfect size for our guests and the bouquets looked beautiful with the mirror tiles and candles that you provided. From the time the reception began until the trash bags were filled at the end, each Francis Marion Hotel employee was extremely patient and willing to do whatever we needed or requested. I would not have changed anything if I had the chance to plan this event again. Thank you for taking from me the burden of a long-distance reception. You are so fitted for the job that you have, and we appreciate you more than words can say.
Just wanted to say thanks for all your help. The wedding was superb. All the guests loved the event-hotel, the staging, the organization. I appreciate all the help from sales, bar and food, and housekeeping. In particular we appreciate being allowed to use the suite from Wednesday which helped enormously with organizing things, as well as the Middleton Room. We’d definitely be back for the next wedding if we could, but only have sons now.
We can say without any hesitation that the Lisi’s and Totolo’s were completely thrilled with you and your staff’s outstanding service. Our wedding reception was truly perfect and we thank you for that! We know you put in countless hours to ensure that everything was flawless-from valet parking to serving our sit down meal-no one had a complaint! Caroline Bean was so wonderful and helpful. We are from Illinois and this is a destination wedding for our families which presents a lot of challenges. Caroline has been amazing at helping us with our many questions, requests, and arrangements. I can’t tell you how many times I run across bad customer service or people who are unwilling to go that extra mile to please you and make you feel special. Caroline has always made us feel like we are the only wedding she is taking care of.
