Here I am at “the Joe,” (nickname for the Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Stadium) celebrating America’s birthday and having a great time with all the fans of the Charleston RiverDogs. (A professional, minor league baseball team and Class-A affiliate of the New York Yankees competing in the South Atlantic League.) What a great place to take the kids! They have a kid’s zone with a jump castle, face painting, balloon animals, and my favorite mascot, Charlie T. RiverDog, pictured here looking quite fluffy, I might say.

For the adults, there’s a selection of cold beverages from your favorite beer to microbrews and wine. While there I enjoyed some of their famous ballpark cuisine (which has been featured on The Food Network with Rachael Ray and The Travel Channel with Adam Richman’s Man v. Food) including the RiverDog (hot dog with pickled okra, bbq sauce, and slaw) and boiled peanuts. After the winning game, I watched spectacular fireworks over theAshleyRiver. What a great way to celebrate America!
