Hello friends!  It’s Sly here.  I’ve taken some time off this summer to be a “Tourist Fox” in my own town.  Many don’t realize how much more there is to do in Charleston than just visiting plantations and riding horse drawn carriages!  This city is a hub for water sports and wildlife enthusiasts alike.  Almost wherever you go in Charleston you are surrounded by water.  I decided to hit the marshy waterways and get my foxtail wet to enjoy the gorgeous summer days in and around the Holy City.  Just a quick 10 minute ride over the Ravenel Bridge and I found the perfect spot on Shem Creek.  The team at Coastal Expeditions, a family owned business since 1992, outfitted me with the perfect gear to begin my journey up the creek and out into the main Harbor of Charleston.  Little did I know that I would not only be kayaking, but I found myself enjoying an enthralling history lesson about Charleston and a biology lesson right there on the water.  4
The team at Coastal Expeditions prides themselves on setting the standard for environmental education and stewardship in the region.  Did you know that the Lowcountry is second to the Rainforest in Biodiversity?  Neither did I!  As we made our way through the marsh waterways of Shem Creek we experienced many types of wildlife from dolphins to pelicans.  My life was made complete when I saw the most amazing sunset right over the city and the Ravenel Bridge from the water.  I can certainly tell you, I’ve never had an experience quite like this.  I absolutely recommend you visiting us and then hitting the water to experience everything Charleston has to offer!  Also, be sure to tell the guys out at Coastal Expeditions I sent you!  They can take groups up to 200 people out for excursions and we can cater your lunch!

Stay foxy everyone!
