In order to help kids get ready for the new school year, my friends at the Francis Marion Hotel and I have been collecting school supplies for the Teachers’ Supply Closet. The Teachers’ Supply Closet is a non-profit organization that provides free school supplies to teachers in the Tri-County area who work at schools where 88 percent of the students are on the free or reduced lunch program. Last year they were able to give supplies to 34 different schools!
The Teachers’ Supply Closet is always in need of basic school supplies such as pencils, paper, and glue sticks. They greatly appreciate donations of gently used books and toys as well.
The Francis Marion Hotel collected over 100 school supplies this year, and I couldn’t wait to deliver our donation!

In preparing the Farmers Market Dinner, one of The Swamp Fox Restaurant’s specialties, Chef Steve Klatt expertly combines farm fresh sustainable ingredients showcasing Charleston’s locally supplied produce and meats. This menu changes monthly and is based on product availability from our wonderful farmers. See this month’s menu.
